Dream Travellers
A village... in a not so distant past.
People live in harmony among each other and with their surroundings.
Until the wolves come. The White Wolves. An army with a calling. Blinded by their ideal, they hunt down anyone who doesn't want to follow them.
Many village people run away. They get lost in a new world. Behind huge city walls.
But the past continues to haunt them. It lives a life of its own.
They want to return to their village. Looking for answers, family,... a hearth.
Players at Sering improvised under the direction of Tania Poppe on the basis of 'A la vera del camino' (At the Side of the Road), a theatre play based on real facts and created by Arena y Esteras, one of our international partners in the Virtual School. Sering wanted to examine, on the basis of Arena y Esteras' rewriting of the facts, how people here would handle what has happened to people on another continent. Was there recognition? Could the players in Antwerp get involved sufficiently to see this story in a broader context? Their search resulted in an internal presentation, after which Rebecca Huys reworked the collected material into an drama text. This is how Droomreizigers (Dream Travellers) came about. A free interpretation of a true story. A story that won't ever be included in history books. A story in which children and grandchildren of many Indians of the Andes mountains are still searching for answers. And their death.
'There are those who name. Those who embellish. Those who deny.
Those who want to know. Those who want to forget.
There are those who want to restore life. Those who want to dominate. Those who let the death live.
Those who bury life.'
It hasn't happened since
The Story of Two Worlds, but now is the time: all players' teams at Sering (age groups from 7 till 76 years) provide actors for this presentation.
